The perpetuating plastic production, especially with single use plastics, is one of the biggest environmental issues the modern world faces. As plastic waste increases, the ability to dispose of the plastic becomes more and more overwhelming for the world. As disposal methods and landfills become increasingly stretched, the overspill of the plastic waste is forced into the natural world. Plastic waste swarms our seas, and also litters our lands killing sea life, birds and our land animals. We need to preserve the planet for our children and grandchildren.
The Grand Welsh Litter Pick is part of A Grand Week in Wales. A project that takes place on 22nd February to St Davids Day on 1st March. The aim is for individuals/families/groups to pick up and recycle as much litter as possible from the outdoors and the natural world. The target is to collectively collect 1000 bags of litter during A Grand Week in Wales! We are urging all litter pickers to predominantly target plastic waste. The litter can be collected from anywhere in Wales; villages, towns, cities, forests, beaches, parks, industrial estates, shopping centres, anywhere. Can you help us in reaching the 1000 bag target?
Why be involved with the Grand Welsh Litter Pick?
It’s fundamental that we do all we can to clear our villages, towns, cities, forests, seas, beaches, parks, even the industrial estates and shopping centres of its litter/plastic. No matter where the litter is, if it’s not in a secure bin ready to be recycled, it will eventually end up in the ocean. This is where you can help! So, join Green Paw Project and One Global Ocean on The Grand Welsh Litter Pick and help clean up our great outdoors!
How do you get involved?
All you need to do is simply collect bags of litter/rubbish between 22nd February and 1st March 2022.
You dont need to register to be involved, all you need to do is register each bag you collect.
Each bag you/your family/your group/your school collect please register it via the Nanny Biscuit Form
Registering the bags via the form above takes 2 minutes, and this means your bags will go towards the 1000 bag total. If we can hit 10,000 then even better!
We are encouraging everyone to either donate to the Grand Welsh Litter Pick, or set up a sponsored page (Children start pestering your family and friends to sponsor you to help clean the planet! 100% of profits go to charity).
20% to Nanny Biscuit to combat food poverty, isolation and loneliness, with the remainder evenly distributed between ourselves and the brilliant national partner organisations;
Green Paw Project – Tree planting and land regeneration
CAFgas CIC – Free boiler repairs for people living in fuel poverty
